Enjoying family time and exciting news

Image
This week we've been enjoying the sunshine and getting outdoors as much as possible.  We've had walks in the woods with friends, trips to the park, rides on the bikes and scooters and time in the garden.   Luke enjoyed playing with the rabbits in the garden. I also made another batch of raw chocolate for us to enjoy.   I've also made an exciting decision this week.  As you may know, i'm extremely passionate about juicing and very inspired by Jason Vale, the Juicemaster, after readings his books and following his juice detoxes.  I've always wanted to do his juice therapy course and become a juice therapist, but lack of confidence and self doubt always made me think "maybe another time".  Well i've decided that now is that time and on 30th August i'll be travelling to his juice academy for 4 days to do the training with Jason himself.  This is a dream come true for me, and I can't wait.  It will also involve facing ...

Smoothie Recipe

Image
This morning I decided to use up all the fruit and veg that were in the fridge before we go shopping.  It tasted really lovely so I thought i'd share it with you.  Here's the recipe. 4 Apples 2 Pears 1 Yellow Pepper 1 Stick of Celery 1 Banana 1 Avocado Juice the apples, pears, peppers and celery, then add to a blender with the banana and avocado.  Blend until smooth.  You can add some water if it's a little thick for you. Remember - the fun of juicing is experimenting with a variety of ingredients.  Happy juicing!

A Lovely Evening

Image
This evening the boys and I decided to take a trip to the park to play tennis.  We had a really fun time, although I don't think any of us will be world class tennis players in the near future, especially me!  We then got home, put the tent in the garden, made herbal tea and drank it in the tent. Once we were finished outdoors, we snuggled up on the sofa to watch a dvd and have some supper.  Luke then went to bed, and me and Dylan looked at some books together about cities and buildings, which he is very interested in. It's been a really lovely evening.  We didn't plan ahead, we just decided to do something a bit different.  I really love evenings like these.  We all laughed and had a good time, creating wonderful memories.  One of the most rewarding things about being a mum.

Creating together and recipes

We actually had a beautiful sunny day here in the North of England today.  I could actually hang out my washing.  We're forecast more rain tomorrow, so we thought we should make the most of the sunshine. Luke and I spent some time in the garden, planting new seeds.  Today's were lettuce, rocket and fennel. He always enjoys being outdoors and getting his hands dirty.  He particularly loves climbing the tree in our garden, but it's full of ants at the moment so he gave that a miss today.  I really love to sit in the garden and meditate.  It's such a lovely way to focus your mind and have some space to yourself, listening to the sounds of nature.  I managed 10 minutes today, and it felt really lovely to have that time and have the sun shining on me.  We then made raw pasta and salad for lunch.  Luke loves to create new recipes, like I do, so we enjoy spending time in the kitchen together.  We used carrots and courgette...

Learning together and enjoying the weather

Image
Well, with the exception of today, it's rained almost non stop for the last few days.  So what better time to put on a pair of wellies and get wet.  So on Saturday morning, the boys and I went to a field near our house which now looks more like a lake.  They had a lovely time and got completely soaked.      Yesterday it was raining, again, so we spent the day indoors.  I wanted to practise using my sewing machine and Luke wanted to help too, so we sat down for an hour together to sew. We had a really lovely time and it's always nice to learn new skills together. He often asks to join in with what i'm doing, that was how he tried yoga for the first time, and I always try to say yes because thats how he learns best.  By having fun and being interested in what he is doing.

Recipes

Image
I thought i'd share a couple of recipes with you today.  The first is a juice I made for breakfast and the second is the raw elderflower cordial recipe. These are the ingredients: 4 Apples 2 Pears 2 Large pieces of beetroot 2 tbsp natural soya yogurt 1/2 tsp of spirulina 1 Avocado 2 tsp Manuka Honey or Raw Honey Juice the apples, pears and beetroot and pour into a blender with the other ingredients.  Blend until smooth.  I did this for me and the boys and we each got 1/2 a glass, so adjust the amounts if you need more or less. These are the ingredients: 10 elderflower heads 10 Dates 1/2 a lemon This is actually a recipe I found on YouTube, the only raw version I could find.  You simply put all the ingredients in a jar, pour over some filtered water and leave to infuse for a few days.  When ready, put it in the fridge to chill.  I'm going to keep experimenting with this recipe so i'll keep you updated with any t...

Nature, coaching calls and raw elderflower cordial.

Image
The last two days have been extremely busy, i'm not sure where to start.  Yesterday morning I had a coaching call, which focused on NLP, specifically time line therapy.  I've done a full post on this here . This morning, Luke asked if we could go to the park again, and as it's forecast 2 months of rain in the next 2 days, I thought we might as well make the most of the sunshine.  So off we went. Then we headed home and picked some nettles from the garden to make nettle tea.  More here . We had lunch and did some worksheets and projects until Dylan arrived home.  Next it was time for Luke's street dancing class.  He had a lovely time and tried really hard.  On the way home, with both boys, we picked some more elderflowers.  Dylan, at 13, is taller than me so he could reach the higher ones which was good.  I then made some raw elderflower cordial.  I found the recipe last night from a video on YouTube.  It uses el...

Healing in Nature, Elderflower Cordial and Science Experiments

Image
I've been feeling a little bit better today.  I managed to get up at 6am and do an hour of kundalini yoga, followed by an aromatherapy bath.  I then made a fresh juice and looked at some books with Luke.   Luke then asked if we could go on an adventure, and I thought why not? It's been a while since i've felt up to going anywhere so I said yes.  We packed up our backpack, and off we went to the park. First he played in the play area. Then we went to the woods and the rose gardens. And finally to the pond. I was exhausted when we got home, but it was worth it.  I had a sleep on the sofa for an hour.  We then had dinner with Dylan, and then I played with Luke with his toys and we did some science experiments in the bathroom. We also had the last of the elderflower cordial which we made yesterday. Well i'm worn out, but it's been a lovely day and I think i'll definitely sleep well tonight...

Healing

Image
I haven't been very well for a few weeks now.  It started with a cold, then a really bad cough and now i'm feeling very tired and run down.  However, with lots of natural remedies i'm gradually feeling better every day.  I wanted to share with you some of the natural ways and remedies i've used over the last week to help myself heal. Sleep and rest - i've needed a lot more sleep than usual for the last few weeks, and i've rested during the day when I felt really exhausted. Water and coconut water - i've needed plenty of fluids and these are my favourite hydrating drinks. Herbal tea with manuka honey - lots of ginger, peppermint and rosehip teas. Elderflower cordial - homemade. Flower Remedies - I use olive flower remedy when i'm feeling really drained. Crystals - I love my crystals and my rose quartz have been very healing this week. Reiki - i'm attuned to reiki, having just passed level 1, so i've been using it on...
