Learning together and enjoying the weather

Well, with the exception of today, it's rained almost non stop for the last few days.  So what better time to put on a pair of wellies and get wet.  So on Saturday morning, the boys and I went to a field near our house which now looks more like a lake.  They had a lovely time and got completely soaked.  


  







Yesterday it was raining, again, so we spent the day indoors.  I wanted to practise using my sewing machine and Luke wanted to help too, so we sat down for an hour together to sew.




We had a really lovely time and it's always nice to learn new skills together. He often asks to join in with what i'm doing, that was how he tried yoga for the first time, and I always try to say yes because thats how he learns best.  By having fun and being interested in what he is doing.

    That's an upside from all the rain we've been having, good opportunities to play. Mine have been out in their wellies :0)

    Our garage flooded (a bit) which was rather frustrating as we had quite a lot of boxes on the floor that were sodden and needed repacking and John and the teens ended up shifting as much as possible into the attic.

    I have really felt for those who have been badly flooded, though :0(

    I have to admit, although I used to do a lot of sewing (by hand) years ago, I'm still rather scared of my sewing machine and really need to get it out and start overcoming that fear!

    I do feel lucky that our house never floods as we're near the top of a hill. It must be awful, I really feel for the people who's homes and businesses have been affected.

    Kids always seem to see the positive though and make the most of it.

    I've been like that over the years with my sewing machine, but my friend is a professional machinist so she's been giving me lessons. I'm really enjoying it now. Just need lots of practise. xx

It's been a while since I posted an update as life has been so busy with lots of exciting things happening. At the end of September we spent 3 days in the Lake District for our friends wedding. It was a beautiful place and we had a really lovely time.  We stayed in a gorgeous little house which was part of a B&B in a little village near Ullswater.  On the first morning, the boys went outside to explore and found a deer in the field next to us. They spent ages watching it, whilst Luke also made friends with the B&B owners cat. Dylan managed to get a few photos which look amazing. He was so happy. The wedding was beautiful and the boys looked very handsome. We had a lovely time, ate lovely food, took a book ride around the Ullswater and met some lovely people. My Photography Project

I've had a week off work this week and time for a much needed rest. There's been so many amazing things happening this year and i'm feeling so grateful for everything. The only down side to this is that I don't always get the chance to follow my creative passions as much as i'd like. So this week has given me the chance to reconnect with my love of photography and i've decided it's time for a new creative project.  So many things have inspired me to do this. I've been reading some of my favourite photography books and a few days ago I watched one of my favourite films Yes Man. In this film Zooey Deschanels character goes out for a run at 6am every morning with a group of people and her camera, taking photos and getting exercise. I love this idea and i'm planning to create my own version of this. I want to spend more time outdoors with my camera. Creating My Raw Food Kitchen

Yesterday, I received a parcel with my new dehydrator and spiralizer, as well as soon other raw kitchen supplies. I've been wanting a dehydrator for well over a year, and finally decided that now is the right time.  I was very excited to say the least.  I went for a Stockli, which i've heard is really good, so i'm looking forwards to lots of creative time in the kitchen over the next few weeks. Today, Luke and I tried out the spiralizer, which was a bit more complicated than we expected, but we did get the hang of it eventually.  We made carrot and courgette spaghetti, and had that with salad, apple, cashew nuts and olives.  Tomorrow i'm hoping to make some raw crackers or kale chips  I'm looking forwards to experimenting and coming up with some new recipes.
