A Typical Day On A Raw Food Diet

As I finished my detox yesterday, I thought I would share with you what I would eat on a typical day.  I will be making a recipes section where I will put all these recipes and more of my favourites.

Breakfasts
* Juice/smoothie - this is how I start every day.
* Raw muesli - made with raw almond milk.
* Fruit salad - different varieties.

Lunches
* Salads - plenty of variety with added nuts, seeds and sundried tomatoes.
* Raw soup - again lots of different recipes.  I'll heat them very slowly in winter, if I want something warm.

Dinners
* Raw pasta - made with courgette and carrot
* Salad wraps - using large leafed lettuce or nori as a wrap.
* Raw burgers - made with nuts, vegetables and herbs.

Snacks
* Fruit - fresh and dried
* Nuts and seeds
* Raw chocolate
* Medjool dates - stuffed with cacao nibs
* Veggie sticks with raw dip
* Raw cake - have a lovely recipe from Shazzie, will add to recipes.

As i've said before, there are some cooked foods which I still eat.  This is a list of them.
* Brown rice - have this once a week with salad/veg
* Jacket potatoes - very occasionally.
* Gluten free oats - sometimes add these to my muesli.
* Olives - can't always afford the raw version, so make do as I love them.
* Natural soya yogurt with probiotics - sometimes add this to my fruit salads
* Rice milk - if i've run out of almonds, i'll occasionally use this as an alternative.

I'll add some recipes in the next few days and hope these ideas will inspire others to make positive changes to their health and lifestyles.  It's certainly helped me to feel healthier and more alive than I ever did before.

  1. Oh almond milk! I don't think anywhere sells it anywhere near here (I used to have to buy it powdered) and unless you've got a decent blender, it's hard to make yourself *sigh*

  2. I tend to blend the almonds with some filtered water and honey, and then sieve it. My blenders not an expensive one but it seems to do the job. It's nice in muesli but not as nice to drink on it's own. I know you can buy it online, but it's really expensive.

  3. This is so inspiring Kelly, thank you for sharing. I often worry that we can't eat high raw because our income is quite low, but now I feel inspired to be organised, eat fairly simply and make raw work for us. We are oplanning to stil have cooked soup,brown rice, cous cous and lentils, but the majority of our food will be living foods. I feel excited and energised just thinking about it! Tonight we made a raw pasta sauce with strips of courgette and carrot as 'pasta',everyone loved it :). My daughter will be one on Friday and I hoping to make a rawberry pie as her birthday cake.

    We make almond milk the same way as you and blended with banana it is such a delicious drink.

    Do your family eat raw too?
    Thanks again for sharing x x x

  4. Thanks again for the lovely comments Gina, I think i'll be trying the banana almond milk later today. The berry pie sounds lovely. I've been making one from Shazzies raw Kitchen programme and it's gorgeous. I'll put the recipe up soon.

    As for my family, my partner doesn't eat raw, he doesn't eat a healthy diet really at all. We're very different. The boys eat a healthy diet. They don't eat all raw, as I wanted them to have the choice, but they do love the salads, smoothies, juices, lettuce wraps, soups etc. The cooked foods they do eat are all homemade and my youngest Luke loves to cook and bake. He likes to make up his own recipes. They eat most fruits and veg, and the ones they don't I put in their juices so they still get the nutrients.

    Thanks again! xx
