Having Goals and Dreams

At the beginning of 2012, I decided that instead of making new years resolutions, I would make goals every month.  That way I wouldn't forget what I wanted to achieve and it would always be clear in my mind.  I also started a journal, as writing down goals makes them seem more real.

These are some of the goals i've achieved so far:

I started getting up half an hour earlier to do yoga, whilst everyone else was still asleep.  I always feel happier when I start my day this way.

I passed one of my courses with an A*. Was rather proud of myself for that one.  Makes all the late night studying worth it.

I completed a 7 day juice detox in January.  Felt amazing afterwards.

Had a big declutter and got rid of lots of things.  Although there are still more things I want to get rid of, so this is still a work in progress.

Made a start on the house and decorated two bedrooms.  Again there are lots of finishing touches still to do.

Also made a start on the garden.  I have big plans for it this year.

I started my own blog, though if you're reading this you'll already know that.  It's very exciting and i'm loving it.

There are lots of goals for me to work on, so these are some of my other goals for 2012:

To complete my 14 day detox starting next Monday.  Can't wait!

To finish sorting out the house.  This could take some time but i'm working on it.

The garden.  This is a big project for me this year.  I want to make it as productive and beautiful as possible.

To continue my raw food journey and learn lots of new recipes.  This should be easy as I have built up a rather large collection or raw food books.

Continue learning to sew and knit.  I love doing both and want to improve so I can make my own clothes some day.

Be more organised.  This is another big one as i'm not a very organised person at all.  Trying to juggle the boys, homeschooling, part time work, my 2 small businesses, college work and the house, as well as taking the boys to taekwondo 4 days a week, can leave me very disorganised.  So my plan is to come up with a simple routine.  Lots of thinking needed for this one.

More art.  When I have time I love to sit in the garden and sketch, particularly birds and trees.  I don't get to do this as often as i'd like but i'm going to try to prioritise some.

To meditate everyday.  I usually do, but some days just seem to go by so fast that I don't get the chance.

To spend as much quality time with the boys as possible.  Whether it's taking them on a day trip or simply sitting in the garden reading together.  I want to enjoy every moment.

These are a few of the goals I have for this year.  Writing them down and looking at them often really does make a difference.  I think it's really important to have goals and dreams, something to work towards.  It gives you something positive to think about, even when you're having a bad day or week.  So go ahead and write down some of your goals for 2012 and see if you can make them happen.
