A Typical Day On A Raw Food Diet

Image
As I finished my detox yesterday, I thought I would share with you what I would eat on a typical day.  I will be making a recipes section where I will put all these recipes and more of my favourites. Breakfasts * Juice/smoothie - this is how I start every day. * Raw muesli - made with raw almond milk. * Fruit salad - different varieties. Lunches * Salads - plenty of variety with added nuts, seeds and sundried tomatoes. * Raw soup - again lots of different recipes.  I'll heat them very slowly in winter, if I want something warm. Dinners * Raw pasta - made with courgette and carrot * Salad wraps - using large leafed lettuce or nori as a wrap. * Raw burgers - made with nuts, vegetables and herbs. Snacks * Fruit - fresh and dried * Nuts and seeds * Raw chocolate * Medjool dates - stuffed with cacao nibs * Veggie sticks with raw dip * Raw cake - have a lovely recipe from Shazzie, will add to recipes. As i've said before, there are some cooked foo...

Reiki

Image
Just a quick post today.  I have just arrived back home after doing my Reiki Level 1 course and all I can say is "WOW".  It was one of the most amazing, intense and enjoyable experiences of my life.   For anyone not familiar with reiki, it means "universal life energy" and is a form of energy healing,  It helps to heal and balance the body as well as the mind and spirit.  It is a very spiritual experience and it's hard to describe the feeling you get whilst giving and receiving a treatment, and everyone reacts differently, but it is very powerful. It can be used to help with the healing of most health conditions and emotional issues, including stress, anxiety, digestive problems and muscular aches and pains. It is also good for personal growth, encouraging creativity and developing a positive attitude. I would recommend it to anyone who needs some form of healing, whether physical or spiritual.

Juicing - An amazing experience

Image
I'm now on day 12 of my juice detox and it's been an amazing experience.  Not only do I feel healthier physically, but mentally too.  I can't recommend it highly enough.  The kids enjoyed the juices as well which makes it even more rewarding.   Over the next week i'm going to add lots of information and recipes for juices that i've learnt over the last two weeks.  I'll also add some raw food ideas and recipes. So anyone who dreams of making changes to their lives and their health, juicing could be the first step to achieving this goal.  You just need to believe you can do it, and you will.

A Rainy Adventure

Image
Today was my birthday so we decided to visit the nature reserve again for a longer walk. We arrived, two minutes later it started pouring with rain, then hail. So armed with two very large umbrellas, we set off for a three hour walk. Here's the highlights of the day.. The beautiful scenery The boys having a lovely time We had a lovely time, and, if anything, the rain made it even more fun.  The perfect way to spend my birthday!

Detox Update

Well it hasn't all been going quite to plan as both boys have been ill this week.  However, I have stuck to the juicing and i'm really enjoying it.  I have managed some yoga, but not every morning due to lack of sleep.  The boys are a little better today though so i'll be setting my alarm for 6:30 in the morning.  I do feel much lighter and my skin is glowing this morning so i'm starting to see some positive changes.  My plans for the garden haven't quite happened yet either as it's rained none stop for the last four days.  I'm hoping for some sunshine soon!  I did, however, manage to do some more decluttering and gave 4 bags to the charity shop. I have been busy making plans and coming up with ideas for my blog and plan to do alot of work on it over the next week.

Detoxing and making plans

It's the first day of my 14 day detox today and i'm very excited.  I've just had my first juice and i'm feeling very positive about the weeks ahead.  The next 2 weeks aren't only about juicing though, I plan to make other changes in my life. Here's my plan: * Follow the juice detox * Get up at 6:30 and do half an hour of yoga every morning. * 20 minutes on my rebounder every day. * Meditate every day. * Spend lots of time in the garden. * Give myself an aromatherapy facial. * Declutter the house.  * Spend my birthday (22nd April) having a long walk in the countryside. * Attend my reiki level 1 course on the 28th. * Sort through finances, and make a new budget. * Learn to sew better - having some lessons on 23rd. * Spend more time doing art. Some of these things I do already, such as yoga, but I want to make sure I do them everyday.  I also intend to lose about half a stone, then i'll be about 8 stones which at 4ft 10 is about rig...

Having Goals and Dreams

At the beginning of 2012, I decided that instead of making new years resolutions, I would make goals every month.  That way I wouldn't forget what I wanted to achieve and it would always be clear in my mind.  I also started a journal, as writing down goals makes them seem more real.  These are some of the goals i've achieved so far: I started getting up half an hour earlier to do yoga, whilst everyone else was still asleep.  I always feel happier when I start my day this way. I passed one of my courses with an A*. Was rather proud of myself for that one.  Makes all the late night studying worth it. I completed a 7 day juice detox in January.  Felt amazing afterwards.  Had a big declutter and got rid of lots of things.  Although there are still more things I want to get rid of, so this is still a work in progress. Made a start on the house and decorated two bedrooms.  Again there are lots of finishing touches still to do. Also ma...

A Lovely Easter

Image
Happy Easter, hope everyones had a lovely day. After starting the day with an easter egg hunt and getting covered in paint decorating eggs, we decided to visit a local nature reserve for a nature walk. The boys look at birds and ducks from the hide. Making friends with the locals. Some of the beautiful birds and ducks. Having some easter chocolate. Then they both made a bird feeder And hung them in the garden It was lovely to be out in nature today.  It's when I feel happiest, walking amongst the trees, listening to the birds.  I can't think of a more relaxing way to spend time. Once home we had some food, played a very long, but entertaining game of Monopoly (I lost miserably, but thats not important) and then snuggled up on the sofa to watch a dvd.  We should definately sleep well tonight.
