A Snowy Easter

Image
Luke woke up early this morning, excited to do his Easter egg hunt that I prepared last night.  We woke up Dylan and had a fun half an hour looking around the house for the eggs.   Then we got ourselves ready, with lots of coats, gloves and scarves, and drove out to the Peak District for a walk in the snow.  Although it was extremely cold, the scenery was absolutely beautiful and we had a lovely time.  The boys enjoyed climbing on the rocks and we enjoyed taking lots of photos. It was a lovely way to spend Easter Sunday and we're now looking forwards to warming up by the fire to watch a dvd together.  The perfect end to a lovely day.

Crystal Love

Image
I've been working extremely hard on my crystal healing course over the last few weeks, learning so much and gaining so much inspiration.  I've really loved the course, and I just have my case studies to do now before i'm a certified crystal healer. I've learnt more than I ever imagined I would, not only about the crystals themselves, but also about geology, sensing energy, chakras, colours, healing animals and so much more. I was very happy this morning when a delivery arrived with lots of lovely, new crystals and a new crystal book. I'm very excited now to do some case studies on my friends and family, make some gem elixirs and try out some crystal grids. I've been using crystals for a few years, and always felt the energies quite easily, but now I really feel that special connection.  They have helped me so much over the years, and they certainly go very nicely when combined with reiki.  Double healing! Here's a few of my new crystals ...

Letting Go and Creating A Vision For The Future

Image
Over the last few weeks i've been thinking a lot about the idea of letting go.  It's come up a lot in my courses and in books i've been reading.  I know that sometimes it's important to let go in order to move forwards and that's felt like something i've needed to do recently. As well as decluttering the house, and letting go of things I no longer need, i've made the decision to combine all of my blogs into one blog. This will be much simpler and feels right to me at this time.  So this is the blog i'll be using from now on.  I've been enjoying making lots of changes and feel that I have definitely made the right decision.  I'm looking forwards to making more changes over the next few days.   One of the tasks I had to do for a course i'm doing with Karen Knowler called Living Magically On Raw, was to create a vision book.  This is a similar idea to a vision board, and I cut out lots of inspiring pictures from magazines to make it.  I n...

Homeschooling Adventures - Creativity In The Kitchen

Image
Luke and I have spent a lot of time in the kitchen over the last few days.   Yesterday Luke decided that he wanted to cook himself some salmon for lunch.  He made it all by himself, cut up some salad and decorated it.  He was very proud of himself for making something so tasty.  I couldn't taste it myself as i'm vegan, but it did look really lovely. Here is the finished result.  I was really proud of him, and I think he'll make a very good chef when he's older. We spent even more time in the kitchen today, this time making herbal remedies.  We made infused herbal oil, then used this to make a healing balm. The herbs we used were st johns wort, comfrey, calendula and plantain, as well as lavender essential oil.  Luke did all the measuring and learnt about some of the herbs that we were using. This is definitely the way he enjoys to learn, by doing lots of practical activities, and it's a very enjoyable way to facilitate this...

Raw Breakfasts

Image
When I first started juicing and then eating mostly raw, I found that changing what I had for breakfast was one of the easiest steps to becoming healthier and following this king of lifestyle.  Starting your day this way gives you so much energy and makes you feel so alive. It gives you the momentum to keep going and eat healthier for the whole day and eventually it becomes your way of life.   So I wanted to share two ideas for a healthy start to the day - green juices/smoothies and raw muesli. Green Smoothie This is usually my first choice of breakfast every morning.  I try to vary the fruits and vegetables I put in each day and I love to experiment.   This is my recipe from this morning (it made just enough for me and the boys) 6 Apples 2 Pears 2 Carrots Handful of Spinach Handful of Kale Small Handful of Parsley 2 Inch Piece of Cucumber Small Piece of Ginger 1 Avocado Tsp Dried Wheatgrass Tsp Spirulina Juice the apple...

My Children's Passions

Image
Over the last few months the boys have been training extremely hard in the sports that they love and, as a mother, watching them doing what they love is one of the most rewarding parts of parenting, after cuddles of course.  Dylan loves doing taekwondo, and is very determined to do well.  He recently graded to his red belt and competed in another competition.  He lost his fight, but he tried so hard and it was very close.  As he has dyspraxia, he has always struggled with his coordination, but taekwondo has made the most amazing difference.  He found it difficult when he first started, but now you don't even notice his condition.  His coordination and balance have both improved, as well as his confidence.  He has such a good attitude, and never gives up. Luke has been training hard in his three sports, taekwondo, street dancing and free running.  He is also very determined and looks forwards to training on an evening. ...

Winter snow, raw foods and crystals

Image
This morning we took a trip to our favourite nature reserve.  Wrapped up warm, we had a lovely walk in the snow, watched the birds, saw a gorgeous wild rabbit hopping through the trees and took lots of photos.   We loved this amazing insect home that the reserve had made. And saw lots of beautiful birds. Luke enjoyed playing with the snow and ice. And I enjoyed playing with my camera. A lovely way to spend the morning. Last week I started my crystal healing course with Hibiscus Moon , and i'm absolutely loving it.  Her lessons are so informative, but fun as well.  I've been using crystals in my reiki treatments and I find it makes it even more special.  I've created my little sacred space to keep some of my crystals and i'm building up my collection.  Working with crystals is an amazing experience and I just love their energy.   I've been doing a ...
