Natural Skincare

I have always enjoyed creating homemade beauty products, ones which are natural, chemical free and healthy. I love experimenting with different herbs and essential oils, and then trying out the products to see what they feel like on my skin.

The last six months i've been studying for a Diploma in Natural Skincare Design. This week I did my assessment and i'm so happy to have passed.  I spent a whole day creating my products, and then another half a day typing it all out. It was lots of fun.

Here are a few of my favourite ingredients.

Rosehip Oil - this is my all time favourite product, particularly to use on the face. It is full of vitamins and essential fatty acids, helps with cell regeneration and is excellent for slowing down the signs of aging. It is also very healing on damaged skin.

Calendula - I like to use either the dried herb, or the macerated oil in my products. It is also good for cell regeneration, and has many healing properties. It is anti-inflammatory and very soothing for irritated skin, such as eczema.

Chamomile Water - this is very soothing, and really good for sensitive skin. It also makes a good cleanser for the delicate eye area.

Lavender Essential Oil - very healing for the skin, helps aid cell regeneration and excellent for helping most skin conditions from eczema to minor burns.

I am hoping to add some of my recipes over the next week, and, as well as selling some products, i'm planning to hold skincare making workshops, and create a new retreat based on natural beauty.  This will include nutrition & juicing, creating homemade skincare products and a holistic facial.

  1. Hi Kelly, I have a tiny patch of eczema on the side of my face, near my hair line (it's about the size of a twenty pence bit). I've tried using organic coconut oil, Bach flower remedy cream, vitamin E oil and a witch hazel and lavender potion to no avail. I think it's partly stress related because it comes and goes, always in the same spot. Anyway, I like the sound of rosehip oil, even though you mention calendula for eczema (I sometimes take powdered rosehip for vitamin C) so I'm looking forward to you opening your little online shop, so that I can purchase some.
    Thanks for the suggestions,

  2. Hi Jane, no problem. Yes I really love rosehip oil. When I fainted a few weeks ago and badly bruised my face, rosehip oil cleared up all the bruising within a few days. It's good stuff. Hopefully it will help you too. I know how annoying eczema can be.

We set off on a road trip around Europe tomorrow, but when we get back i'll be doing lots of work to get my business set up. I'm going to come up with some lovely recipes for products, and also planning some skincare workshops. I'll keep you updated on here. Thank you for the lovely comments. Kelly xx
