Fun Learning In Nature

Today we had a lovely afternoon at our favourite nature reserve.  After lots of rain this morning, the sun came out and it was a beautiful afternoon.

We arrived and had a drink and snack in the cafe, before having a look at the nature table which included skulls of deer, mice, rats and moles, nests, bones from swans, honeycomb and feathers from chaffinches.

Then we headed outside to feed the ducks.

Next we went on a long nature walk.  We found beautiful flowers and wildlife including dragonflies, damselflies, bees pollinating flowers, a wide variety of birds, a slug eating a leaf and some beautiful scenery.

And of course there's always time to practise a taekwondo pattern.

We learnt a lot of facts about different wildlife on this trip.  Luke enjoyed reading all the signs, which gave us information about how the recent floods had affected the reserve and its wildlife.  He enjoyed learning about different birds, insects and flowers and looked at all the information.

As for me, I can't think of a more wonderful way to spend an afternoon than with my boys and my camera in a beautiful place full of beautiful scenery.  It's where I feel most at home.
