A Special Birthday

Yesterday my little man celebrated his 10th birthday.  I honestly don't know where the time has gone, and how he got to double figures so quickly, but I did know that I wanted it to be really special.

We always take a trip somewhere on their birthdays, and Luke always chooses somewhere with animals.  He decided he wanted to go to the safari park again, so that's what we did.  He loved seeing the animals, watching the sea lion and birds of prey shows and exploring in nature.  It's also a brilliant way to learn in a fun and relaxed environment.

I got a bit carried away with my camera and took about 300 photos, mostly of deers, but these are a few of my favourites.










We even had a visit from a gorgeous little squirrel who came up to the car and stared at us, probably waiting for food.


We then had a lovely picnic in the sunshine, whilst Luke explored some rather big leaves.



Then today we set off to the seaside for a family day out.  The boys really enjoy being on the sand and in the sea so this was definitely the highlight of the day.













I'm feeling absolutely exhausted after such a busy week, but it was worth it.  I think we'll be having a few lazy days next week to recover!

    Oh Kelly! It's amazing how fast our kids grow and change. Looks like a wonderful birthday celebration. I appreciate seeing your "unschooling" experiences as we are starting that journey with my 4 1/2 year old for preschool. What a JOY to find other mama's to relate to. It's been a while since I posted an update as life has been so busy with lots of exciting things happening. At the end of September we spent 3 days in the Lake District for our friends wedding. It was a beautiful place and we had a really lovely time.  We stayed in a gorgeous little house which was part of a B&B in a little village near Ullswater.  On the first morning, the boys went outside to explore and found a deer in the field next to us. They spent ages watching it, whilst Luke also made friends with the B&B owners cat. Dylan managed to get a few photos which look amazing. He was so happy. The wedding was beautiful and the boys looked very handsome. We had a lovely time, ate lovely food, took a book ride around the Ullswater and met some lovely people. My Photography Project

I've had a week off work this week and time for a much needed rest. There's been so many amazing things happening this year and i'm feeling so grateful for everything. The only down side to this is that I don't always get the chance to follow my creative passions as much as i'd like. So this week has given me the chance to reconnect with my love of photography and i've decided it's time for a new creative project.  So many things have inspired me to do this. I've been reading some of my favourite photography books and a few days ago I watched one of my favourite films Yes Man. In this film Zooey Deschanels character goes out for a run at 6am every morning with a group of people and her camera, taking photos and getting exercise. I love this idea and i'm planning to create my own version of this. I want to spend more time outdoors with my camera. Creating My Raw Food Kitchen

Yesterday, I received a parcel with my new dehydrator and spiralizer, as well as soon other raw kitchen supplies. I've been wanting a dehydrator for well over a year, and finally decided that now is the right time.  I was very excited to say the least.  I went for a Stockli, which i've heard is really good, so i'm looking forwards to lots of creative time in the kitchen over the next few weeks. Today, Luke and I tried out the spiralizer, which was a bit more complicated than we expected, but we did get the hang of it eventually.  We made carrot and courgette spaghetti, and had that with salad, apple, cashew nuts and olives.  Tomorrow i'm hoping to make some raw crackers or kale chips  I'm looking forwards to experimenting and coming up with some new recipes.
