Our Road Trip Around Europe
We arrived home from our road trip late on Saturday evening, after 18 days of driving through France, Italy, Austria, Germany and Belgium. It was an amazing experience for all of us, although the boys got a little homesick towards the end. We visited some beautiful places, and had fun speaking different languages.
Luke loved swimming in the Mediterannean, whilst Dylan and Dave enjoyed driving up the Stelvio Pass in Italy, and visiting the Nurbergring.
I loved visiting beautiful cities such as Venice, Verona and Bruges, improving my French and learning Italian and German. I bought some lovely herbal teas in Bruges which I have been trying out since getting home, and a gorgeous Lapis Luzuli crystal which I bought in the French Alps in the little shop that the owner of the apartments owns. He was a druid and had so many interesting stories to tell. He knew so much about crystals and spiritual energy, he told the boys about the animals which lived in the mountains, and we even talked about yoga and meditation.
We met so many interesting and friendly people on our travels. It felt lovely to connect with them, even though in some cases we didn't even speak the same language. It's definitely given me the confirmation that I needed that travelling feels so right to me and something i want to do often. We even looked into property prices in Bruges (very expensive!) whilst we were there. That's a good dream for the future.
I took my juicer with me and managed to juice whenever we could get hold of fresh fruits and vegetables. I also took lots of raw snacks, and managed to eat mostly raw with a few cooked meals, which was fine.
Luke even got to celebrate his 11th birthday in Bruges, with a film night in our apartment. He's definitely growing up too fast!
We took around 2000 photos of our trip, so here's some of my favourites.
